Staying infatuated will
otherwise lead to emotional burnout. Marriage can be best understood when viewed as a series of stages, or phases, that most couples work through while spending their lives together. These seven stages of marriage are interconnected, and yet each one is distinct and somewhat separate from the others.

It’s called the 2/2/2 rule. Learn it, love it.

“As necessary as this phase is in forming your relationship, it can’t last forever,” says Lane. “It’s not hard to know if you’re in this phase,” says Rachel Vida MacLynn, chartered psychologist, fellow of the British Psychological Society, and founder of Maclynn International. And you may experience elements of the honeymoon spark throughout your time together, rather than a powerful blast at the very beginning. The passion that comes in the honeymoon stage has also been found to have a link to increased levels of a protein called nerve growth factor (NGF). You may struggle to find the term “honeymoon phase” in scientific literature. So it makes sense that modern-day English has added the word “phase” onto the end to further emphasize how brief the period can be.

Re-evaluation stage

Newlyweds were meant to drink mead, a honey-based alcohol, for the first month, or moon, of their marriage, which gives us the term “honeymoon”. Commit to doing something you’ve never done before to re-create that same feeling. “It doesn’t have to be sky diving. It could be having sex in a new room of the house,” Cocharo says.

“This is the part of dating that is true and raw,” DeKeyser explains. If you and your partner have decided to get serious, you’ve landed at the intimacy stage of a relationship. While the word may conjure an association with physical intimacy, this stage focuses on vulnerability. It’s incredibly tough to be vulnerable with another person and to reveal—openly and unequivocally—parts of yourself that aren’t ideal.

Once you hit the 2.5-year mark with your partner, it’s not an instant descent away from the honeymoon phase. However, you’ll know your relationship’s honeymoon phase is over or dwindling when behaviors begin to change, and you see one another’s flaws without putting on any sort of front. During this stage of your relationship, it feels like nothing can go wrong.

Even though it was with friends, I still felt uncomfortable about it. In my own first relationship, the honeymoon period lasted exactly one month to the day. But if you see them flaunting this new relationship on social media, of course it will make you feel bad, and you’ll be afraid that this new relationship is really serious. Your ex can’t deal with their feelings about the breakup and their lingering feelings for you, and so try to soothe themselves by concentrating on the next best thing. In all there are 7 complete stages that you can expect your exes rebound relationship to go through.

Feelings are unreliable because they vary and are subject to moods and external factors. The payoff can be great, but you have to be ready to invest a lot in each other. Well, it’s an ‘Aha moment’, where they come to the realization that they really don’t want to be with the other person, and that changes their behavior, and how they look at this relationship. And I think that’s an often undervalued aspect of rebounds.

But sex keeps you connected in many ways, especially if you’re really giving to your partner and present in the experience. Take time each day to think about the positive aspects of your partner and your relationship, and let yourself feel grateful. Take it another step further, and tell your partner something positive about them each day.

Excitement, chemistry, lust, and those attraction signs can always be revived and rediscovered. But love, care, and understanding are the foundation of a relationship that lasts longer than the honeymoon period. If you’ve wondered when is a relationship not new anymore, reaching this stage in the relationship definitely fits the bill. It is when you both fall in love with each other’s real self and not the first impressions.

You will often feel that it is not as intense as it was when the two of you first met. It is important to know that love does not happen overnight. Sometimes, you can be so attracted to someone that you want them so bad. Regardless of what phase your relationship is in, the best relationship advice is always just a click away. You likely started the relationship building the home with gratitude and happiness. Finding each other’s inclinations again will make you both grow nearer. Essentially, the couple’s preoccupation with each other and their new, united relationship begins to wind down. “If you are a good match, how to delete JPeopleMeet account you will enjoy each other long after the honeymoon phase ends and the dopamine has worn off. “Thankfully it was just a handful of times we hung out, but I wouldn’t do that to myself again.” I mean, some people just can’t embrace the fart and will even go so far as to consider a break-up.

The authors speculated that elevated NGF levels might increase a person’s feelings of euphoria or connection. When measuring cortisol and NGF levels 12 to 24 months later, they found that differences between the passionate love group and the others had disappeared. True, that rebound relationship might not have the best chances of lasting into marriage or kids, but it does give you the opportunity to grow and find out more about yourself.

Could I have done a better job at communicating my feelings? But I was young and inexperienced and when emotions run high, logic runs low. This is especially true if they are not usually the type to post lots of loved-up content for all to see. But first let’s tackle when we can expect a rebound relationship to fail. What’s fascinating about this topic is that everyone seems to have a different idea of when a rebound relationship will fail.
